Bermuda Grass Is Useful in our life? How?

Tamil Tradition and Culture is Healthy and Scientific Formalities to us

Bermuda Grass (Arugampul) in our life?

In the eclipse days, we place Bermuda grass in the vessels filled with water. This habit still exists in villages in Tamil Nadu India. This is not superstition. Bermuda grass has the power to block the highly emitted ultraviolet rays during eclipse.

Arugan means Sun. In 3 days, worms and insects will get in cow dung. If Bermuda grass is inserted in cow dung, this will not happen. This is the power of Bermuda grass.

Like this, whenever we begin good activity, we pray God that the activity should be completed without getting spoiled or destroyed.

Even animals like dog or cat and chicken can be seen bite Bermuda grass and spit when they got disease. Drinking Bermuda grass juice is good for health as per Siddha medicine.

Drink Bermuda grass juice daily. Not only diabetes and high blood pressure will get cured, it is good for all those who lack immune power.

In front of Lord Vinayaka(Elephant headed Indian God) Why we knock our head with fist ?

Tamil Tradition and Culture is Healthy and Scientific Formalities to us.

Knocking the left fore head with right fist and right forehead with left fist is the custom.

Keeping this mind, in earlier periods, teachers punished the students by knocking in their front head.

Our culture is based on health, not based on superstition.

Temporal lobe is located in the two front sides of our head, where we knock our head. Here only, memory power inducing nerves located. By knocking at this place, these nerves are stimulated. By this, activeness and inner enthusiasm arises in the body.

Yogis are telling that, when we knock the sides of fore head, the pot of Amirtham(a divine liquid which gives immortality) located there opens and the Amirtham in it  spread entire body.

This methed of technique is now followed and educated in foreign countries as super brain yoga.

During Vinayaga Sathurthi ( Birthday) Why Vinayaka Idol (Elephant headed God) is dissolved in river?

Tamil Tradition and Culture is Healthy and Scientific Formalities to us

Our ancients informed some activities and left us without making it clear.

When rivers are flooded, the sands in the river carried away. Because of this, water run to the sea without getting down in to the land. Water will getting down in the land where clay is there.

Hence, On Vinayakar Sathurthy(Birth day) days, idols made of clay were dissolved in the river. Why it is dissolved after 3 or 5 days?

Wet clay dissolves quickly and run along with the speedy river. Dry clays withstand the river speed and deposited where it is dropped.

Because of this, the water coming in the river converted as underground water and solves our drinking water problem. It has to be dissolved in river only.

If simply said, today’s youth will not come to drop clay in river.

How is the cleverness of our ancients?

Why Ancient Tamilan Used Plantain Leaf Instead of Plate for Eating Food ?

Tamil Tradition and Culture is Proven Healthy and Scientific Formalities to us

Plantain leaf is a good germ killer. You might have seen, burn wounded persons are laid on plantain leaf. In villages, plantain juice is given for snake bites. Poison immediately neutralized.

To neutralize any kind of poison, Tamil people placed plantain tree in places of mass gathering, wedding functions and festive gatherings. This is to ensure that poison neutralizer should be easily available in such big gatherings.

When happened to cook in dark and if poison is mixed in that food unexpectedly or if poison is mixed in food in any other way, immediate poison neutralizer is plantain. Hence food also served in plantain leaf.

If food is taken in plantain leaf regularly, skin will shine. Health will be improved. Problems like laziness, weakness, tiredness will be cleared. Pitta(a condition of excess bile in body) will become normal. The greenness (Chlorophyll) on plantain leaf digests food easily and cures stomach ulcers. Induce hungry well.

For school & college students and office goers, plantain leaf is best to carry lunch. Food will remain fresh without any spoilage.

While eating Why we are sitting with folded legs . . .

Tamil Tradition and Culture is Healthy and Scientific Formalities to us

While eating, we should sit with folded legs. If we keep our legs hanging in vertical position, the blood circulation flow more towards leg and less in stomach. This causes slow digestion.

If we eat with folded legs, food will digest as and when we eat. Because the blood flows more in stomach instead of leg, the digestion is happening well.

This is the reason why it is insisted to sit in folded legs while eating.

Astrological Miracle by Ancient Tamilan - Abirami Pattar

In ancient days, there was a Abirami Amman temple at Thirukadaiyur near Thanajavur   Tamilnadu State - India.

There, Abirami pattar was a temple assistant.
He has unlimited devotion on the temple Deity, Abirami Amman.

One day, King of that area came to that temple. That day was a no moon day.

King casually asked Abirami pattar, what was that day?
He replied that, it was a full moon day.

The King instructed his guards, to return to the palace if full moon comes in the night and if full moon not comes, he ordered to cut his head.

After king left the place, the nearby people explained Abirami pattar about what had happened.
Fear on life came to Abirami pattar. He surrendered to the deity, Abirami Amman, and sang by thinking on her, with tear full eyes.

Night came. Full moon also came. The King hurriedly came and requested Abirami pattar to forgive him. Abirami pattar shed tears with bliss and thanked Abirami Amman.

Today’s Astronomical studies say that, once in 25000 years, there will be 3 consecutive full moon days.
i.e., the full moon – no moon – full moon cycle will break once.
How this was known to Abirami pattar, who wrote Abirami Anthathi?

Let the researchers explain, how much ancient our Tamil culture was.

At the time of House Warming Ceremony Cow Pooja is Necessory one ?

Tamil Tradition and Culture is Healthy and Scientific Formalities to us

Why we do Cow Puja during House warming ceremony?

After the completion of Cow Pooja, the cow with its calf brought inside the house by keeping ulakkai (a lengthy wooden tool used for rice pounding) at the house entrance.

If the cow and calf enter the house without any trouble, then the house is suitable for our living.

Or, if the cow and calf frightened and refuse to enter the house, then we can decide that there is some thing wrong in that house and it is not suitable for living, because cow’s eyes can see the negative energies.

As the presence of negative energies is dangerous, cow with its calf will not enter the house.  What a wonderful knowledge of our ancestors! Anything should be done after knowing, why we do so.

Scratching our Head is useful to us?

Tamil Tradition and Culture is Healthy and Scientific Formalities to us

Why we scratch head?

It is science. That is the fact. Why we scratch head? Is it because of lice problem only? We would have seen students scratching their head for not knowing answer to question. What is the link between not knowing the answer and head scratching? While scratching head, there is a chance to recollect the forgotten one.

We often crack fingers, why? Who taught us this treatment of relieving tiredness in body and bring in enthusiasm after intense hard work?

We are thinking by keeping the finger in chin. We bite our teeth while controlling anger. What for these? It is our nature to squeeze our hands and walking here & there when we are in expectation, tension or in suspense. Do you know that this act releases endorphin in us and relax us?

Clapping hands also like that only. We may think that we are clapping our hands while we are in happy and to appreciate others. While clapping, an enzyme, acetylcholine, is released in our body and enthusiasts both body and mind. We are doing that without knowing this fact.

Like laughing therapy and music therapy, a saint in New Delhi relieves worries of his devotees by making them clapping their hands.

Why we light gingilly oil or ghee lamp in home ?

Tamil Tradition and Culture is Healthy and Scientific Formalities to us

Why we light Deepam (gingilly oil or ghee lamp ) in home and temple?

The light of the Deepam has the power to attract the unnecessary rays and negative energies.

When they do so, the positive energies around us will increase.

Our surroundings will be seen with clarity and strength.

So, we start our work only after lighting the lamp in home and temple, in the early morning and evening.

Tamil civilisation - is it the oldest?

Tamil Tradition and Culture is Healthy and Scientific Formalities to us

Tamil civilisation - is it the oldest?

Introduction

It may be timely to pose the question of as from when did
Tamil civilisation exist. The tsunami of December 26, 2004 vividly demonstrated the destructive force of tidal waves and what havoc the attendant deluges could cause. It was, however, not unknown to the ancient Tamils who occupied southern India from that time. Their traditions refer to extensive lands submerged in the remote past that had once existed in the Indian Ocean, south of Kanya Kumari or Cape Comorin. They had indeed a word for such happenings. They called it kadatkol - meaning the sea devouring the land.

Is This a 1.7-Million-Year-Old Man-Made Bridge?

Tamil Tradition and Culture is Healthy and Scientific Formalities to us

According to ancient Indian legend, King Rama built a bridge between India and Sri Lanka more than a million years ago. Some have looked at NASA satellite images and noted what looks like the remnants of such a bridge. The question is whether it is man-made or a natural formation.
The Encyclopedia Britannica describes it as a “chain of shoals,” but notes: “Traditionally, it is said to be the remnant of a huge causeway constructed by Rama, the hero of the Hindu epic ‘Ramayana,’ to facilitate the passage of his army from India to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) for the rescue of his abducted wife, Sita. According to Muslim legend, Adam crossed there to Adam’s Peak, Ceylon, atop which he stood repentant on one foot for 1,000 years.”
It is known in English as “Adam’s Bridge.” It is often called Rama Setu or Ram Setu in India, named for King Rama. The truth of its origin is buried in political and religious controversy. Some have wanted to destroy the remnants of the bridge to open up a shipping channel. The proposal has been denounced by others as heresy and destruction of an important ancient heritage structure.
Dr. Badrinarayanan, former director of the Geological Survey of India and former coordinator of the survey division of the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) in Chennai, studied core samples from the bridge.
He told Rediff magazine that, in the 32-foot (10-meter) samples, “We found marine sands on top and below that was a mixed assemblage of corals, calcareous sand stones, and boulder-like materials. Surprisingly below that up to 4–5 meters [13–16 feet], again we found loose sand and after that, hard formations were there.”
He surmised that the boulders must have been artificially placed there.
Puzzled by the appearance of boulders on top of a marine sand layer, he surmised that the boulders must have been artificially placed there.
The “Ramayana” describes the dimensions of the bridge as 100 yojana in length and 10 yojana in width. One yojana is equivalent to about 5 miles (8 kilometers). This would mean a bridge of astronomical proportions, clearly not fitting the bridge observed there today. Yet, the ratio thus described may fit.
The ratio of 10:1 (length:width) fits the actual measurements of the bridge observed today.
A group dedicated to a scholarly study of traditional Indian culture from a spiritual background, Bharath Gyan, noted that the ratio of 10:1 (length:width) fits the actual measurements of the bridge observed today. The bridge is about 35 kilometers (21 miles) long, and 3.5 kilometers (2.1 miles) wide. Of course, the bridge as it exists today is not perfectly uniform and the width varies slightly at different points.
Although Dr. Badrinarayanan was puzzled by the inter-layering he observed in the core samples, others have explained it in various ways. No single explanation has been agreed upon by geologists.
Suvrat Kher, a professional geologist specializing in marine formations, described some scenarios in a blog post: “During the Pleistocene ‘ice-age’ period, glacial buildup and melting forced fluctuations in sea-level by tens of meters, setting up the conditions for several episodes of coral reef and sand shoal formation. During periods of large sea-level drops in the Pleistocene, there would have been a land connection between India and Sri Lanka. But at the end of the last Wisconsin glaciation, the sea-level began to rise world-wide.
Adam's Bridge (NASA)
Adam’s Bridge (NASA)
He said that as coral reefs grow upward, they eventually reach more shallow water and are sometimes broken off by waves, thus falling and being deposited below. Sand can similarly be carried and deposited to form various layers over sediments. He thinks that human placement of the boulders is not necessarily the only explanation for the layering observed.

Dating

In 2007, when fresh NASA images emerged showing Adam’s Bridge and gained traction online, India’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced that NASA dated the bridge to 1.7 million years ago. This date fit well with the Indian legends, corresponding to one of the four ages of mankind, the one in which King Rama lived.
At the time, NASA spokesman Michael Braukus said he was not aware of carbon dating performed at the site, refuting the BJP claim. Some reports at the time stated that the land at either end of the bridge had been dated as 1.7 million years old, not the bridge itself.
Dating by Indian scientific institutions, including the Centre for Remote Sensing (CRS) of Bharathidasan University, placed the formation of the bridge at about 3,500–5,000 years ago. Dr. Badrinarayanan estimated the range of formation as observed in his core samples at about 5,800 to 4,000 years ago.
Critics have said, however, that dating any given part of the bridge (such as coral samples) cannot give a true picture of how old the entire bridge is.

In the “Ramayana,” the bridge is said to have been built upon a wooden foundation (which was placed atop a preexisting natural elevation) that was then covered with large and small stones. Those who believe Adam’s Bridge is man-made say that the degeneration of the bridge over the ages has left it in a state that is difficult to discern from a natural formation.

Musical Pillars in Temples

Hindu Temples of India are architectural wonders. Each sculptor has shown his genius in the temple sculptures and carvings in his own way. Every temple has something to boast about. Modern engineers marvel at Indian temples and wonder how they built without the modern tools thousand years ago. Temples like Madurai Meenakshi temple contain above 30 thousands of statues.

Sun Clock- 1400 years old Ancient Indian Clock

Tamil Tradition and Culture is Healthy and Scientific Formalities to us

Sun Dial, a historical instrument 1,400-year-old sun clock mounted on the 35-feet-high inner wall of Sivayoginathar temple at Thiruvisainallur, some 12 km from Kumbakonamin Thanjavur district. It is the only ‘wall clock’ in Tamil Nadu in the real sense of the term. The temple authorities have decided to refurbish the historic legacy which stands testimony to the infinite wisdom and scientific temper of the Chola kings.
The wall clock built during Parantaka Cholan’s rule does not require battery or electricity. Carved out of granite and shaped like a semi-circle, all it has is a three inch-long brass needle permanently fixed at the centre of a horizontal line. As the sun casts its rays on the needle, the shadow of the needle indicates the right time. The people, mostly the devotees coming to the temple, deciphered the time of the day by watching the silhouette cast by the needle of the sun clock from six am to six pm, and perhaps planned their day accordingly.British have added numerals while repainting the centuries old sun clock for easy reference.
Expectedly, time has taken its toll on the sun clock at the sixth-century temple. The clock will work as long as the sun shines because of its unique working principle. But due to brass discoloration, the needle is getting blurred on the granite surface.
